EnEx is finally complete!

It seems like I've neglected this blog for quite some time.

I'll just make school my excuse. ;)

Anywho, I decided I'll share my studio recorded song that I composed, recorded and produced as part of my EnEx project! (for those who don't know what EnEx is, click here)
I can't even explain how excited and nervous I am to share it, but I've gotten some great feedback so far, and I'm hoping it will continue to be that way.

So, it's not a top hit or anything, but it's me. And I'm very proud of this, and how I've come so far in my musical endeavours. Honestly, I can't even believe I was given this opportunity. The entire atmosphere of working in a recording studio was incredible, and I'll never forget such an experience.

As for the song, I'll try to find a way to post it but blogger doesn't like me so I'm not sure how that will work out...

Le Fin (almost) :D

I'm almost finished with my project! Yay!

I know, it's been about 2 months since I last posted, and I send you my deepest apologies on that matter.

But on another note, (ahahah get it? Note? Music? AHAHAHA. No? Ok. ) Friday was my last day recording in the studio. :(

I had the most incredible time recording and I cannot thank my mentor enough for this wonderful opportunity. (yeah, this independent study project requires us to have a mentor, if you didn't know. How else would I have gotten the chance to record a song?) I can't even stress enough how much I've learned in the past 4 months and I'm so sad that it's all coming to an end.

Oddly enough, I'm also sad about finish up all the paper work and research that comes with this project.

12 more days. Oh my gosh. 12 more days and it's all over. The project is due on the 26th. (Same day as my big trip! AHAHA :D )

I don't recall posting the lyrics of the song on this blog, as it's a mashup of 2 songs I wrote over the summer, but what the heck, I'll post it again (if I already did).

Drumroll please... *insert intense drumroll here*

Daydreaming

I can’t decide
Where my heart should go.
I can’t figure out
Whether it’s a yes of no.

My heart’s falling
You can’t even see.
I can’t risk to break
So please just catch me.

You can see through me though
You won’t understand.
You reeled me in, can’t get out
Can I get a chance?

[Chorus]
I can’t keep my head straight.
My chances keep walking away.
All I want is you to stay
But no you won’t.
I’m stuck daydreaming.

I try to forget.
I can’t seem to force it.
Can I run away?
Because it’s too hard to admit.

I can fall
And I can crash,
But will you catch me
Time’s going by too fast.

You can see through me though
You won’t understand.
You reeled me in, can’t get out
Can I get a chance?

[Chorus]
I can’t keep my head straight. ( I can't keep my head straight)
My chances keep walking away. (Walking away)
All I want is you to stay (You to stay)
But no you won’t. (No you won't)

I can’t keep my head straight.
My chances keep walking away.
All I want is you to stay
But no
I’m stuck daydreaming.

While I'm at it, I might as well post another pic!

Shhhhh..

I recorded the rough copy of my song last week...

But I can't post it here... it's a secret. Shhhhh... ;)

I'm in the studio in a few days. I'm so excited!
Finished editing my song today, so I can't wait to hit the booth and start singing. Although, I'm quite nervous about that part. I couldn't even play the guitar properly because of my nerves last week...

BUT THAT'S OKAY! I GOT OVER IT.

And my rough copy is amazing!!

Honestly, I couldn't be more proud of myself. I actually feel like I'm growing up and working. It's absolutely wonderful, fun, amazing, scary and nervous all at the same time. No joke.

Well, anyways, here's a pic of a part of the studio. (Don't worry, I asked for permission)

I'd Stop (full song!)

I'm getting worked up, tired,
I'm frustrated.
I can't keep my mind straight.

Ignorance has blinded you,
You just walk away,
I'm losing the connection,

*Chorus*
I'd stop the whole world,
I'd stop those just like you.
I'd make you stop and watch,
Make you remember and regret.
I'd stop myself from falling,
I'd make you search for me.
But I'll never be found.
Cause I'm gone.

Life is a journey,
I've been lead to you.
What have I got caught up in?

My mind's going crazy, insane,
You left me alone,
I should have known.

*Chorus*
I'd stop the whole world,
I'd stop those just like you.
I'd make you stop and watch,
Make you remember and regret.
I'd stop myself from falling,
I'd make you search for me.
But I'll never be found.
Cause I'm gone.

*Bridge

Everything turned into pieces,
Your promises turned into lies.
It wasn't what I expected.
All you did was change your mind.

It's hard to keep trust when there
Was nothing to start with.
Years have come and gone,
And I'm sick and tired of your negative words

*Chorus*
I'd stop the whole world,
I'd stop those just like you.
I'd make you stop and watch,
Make you remember and regret.
I'd stop myself from falling,
I'd make you search for me.
But I'll never be found.
Cause I'm gone.

I Was At A Recording Studio.

Yup. That's right.

I'm working with a music producer. I'm trying to hold all my excitement...

Nah.

I'M SO EXCITED. AHHHHH! ASDFGHJKL!

Remember when I mentioned I had an Enex project? Yeah, that's what it's for. Nonetheless, I'm getting the opportunity of a lifetime. :)

I was at the studio the other day and it was amazing. The studio looked incredible and I can't wait to work with the equipment and start recording. That meeting was my first meeting, where we talked about the project requirements and how this assignment actually works.

Recording an original song soon! I can't wait! One problem... What song should I record?

Leave me a comment! :)

I just realized that I'm going to get marked on my song...

December = EnEx

Well... HI.

I guess I'm a stranger to you because I haven't posted in ages.
WELL, I'M SORRY. SCHOOL IS TOUGH YA'KNOW

I'm now back on track to my musical endeavours! Which is why I'm giving an update. :)

I'm back on the third (and final) instalment of my EnEx project. For those who don't know, it's a project where we go beyond our comfort zones and learn more about a career and/or passion.

Mine is, of course, music production... again.

THIS YEAR WE GET TO WORK WITH A MENTOR. AHHHH.

And that means... I get to produce a song!

The purpose of this assignment is to get out of our little bubble that we call comfort and work on "real life" skills. This means finding a mentor, getting one, working with one, etc. It's a lot harder and stressful that it sounds, because we have to do assignments (i.e progress logs, reflections, other paperwork, evaluations) but I think it is worth it.

I mean, it's not every day I will get to work with a producer, let alone make a song, perhaps?

This project will be over the course of the next 5 months or so. I'll keep updates on here as well. :D

Sorry, no song today. I know, bummer. Winter break is coming up soon... I'll post a song then. How 'bout that? :)

Happy December!
